British boxing legend Ricky Hatton’s family has issued a statement one day following the former world champion’s tragic death.
Hatton, 46, was found dead inside his Hyde, Tameside home just before 7 a.m. on Sunday. Authorities have said there are “not believed to be any suspicious circumstances” behind Hatton’s death.
The loss of Hatton has touched the boxing and music worlds and other places as well. Meanwhile, the Stockport, England native’s family is grieving hardest.
Hatton’s family shared a statement with Greater Manchester Police, paying tribute to their beloved son, father and brother.

“He had a heart as big as his smile, and his kindness, humour and loyalty touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him,” Hatton’s family said, via The Independent.
“To the wider world, Richard will always be remembered as one of boxing’s greatest champions – a man who gave everything inside the ring and wore his heart on his sleeve outside of it.”
Hatton’s brother also shared his own words
Matthew Hatton, Ricky’s brother, released his own brief message on social media Sunday.
“I love you, Richard. See you on the other side,” he wrote, including photos of the two together.

Ex-girlfriend Chelsea Claire also ‘heartbroken’
Hatton leaves behind three children but no wives or current partners. He did, however, have a host of high-profile relationships in his past, including one with model Chelsea Claire.
Claire, who is 14 years younger than Hatton, met “The Hitman” in a bar in Tenerife in 2023. The pair began a relationship before ultimately splitting down the road.
On Sunday, Claire shared her own message of mourning on social media.
“Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover what myself and the rest of the world are feeling,” Claire said on Instagram.
“You were an inspiration to many and I was lucky to call you my partner. You will be missed so much.”
No cause of death has been released
Hatton dealt with a number of personal problems over the years, including drug and alcohol addiction and depression. He survived multiple suicide attempts.
As of now, it is unclear if any of that played a role in his death. No official cause of death has been revealed as of this writing.
