Rodrigo de la Cadena is preparing for one of the most significant nights of his career, in which he will lead the National Auditorium your show Symphony of Memorya tribute to the composers who shaped Mexican sentiment through the romantic music.
Accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestrathe artist promises an evening in which nostalgia, musical excellence and cultural roots come together on the same stage.

“My guests are them, the ones who are no longer here,” De la Cadena explained in an interview with this medium. “Consuelo Velázquez, María Grever, Elena Valdelamar, Roberto Cantoral, Álvaro Carrillo, Armando Manzanero, José Alfredo Jiménez, are the protagonists of this symphony, those who made love and heartbreak an identity for the Mexican people.”
The recital, his first solo concert at the National Auditorium, seeks to be more than just a musical retrospective, to become a ceremony of collective evocation.
“Symphony of Memory is a way of remembering to educate,” he said. “Transmit the significance of their work through the songs they left us. It is a musical altar for them, but also a celebration of who we are.”
Each composer will have a special block, described by the musician as a kind of “fantasy or symphonic poem.” The repertoire will include classics such as Bésame mucho and Que seas siempre, by Consuelo Velázquez; The Door and If God Takes My Life, by Luis Demetrio; The king and I woke up in your arms, by José Alfredo Jiménez; as well as gems by Juan Gabriel such as Amor Eternal and Querida.
“We want people to listen to the songs that identify their memory and their life,” said the performer. The show will have a stage proposal in which, beyond technological resources, theatrical magic will be used. Some of those honored will be evoked by actors or by the composers’ own children, in a gesture that unites generations. “There will be no artificial intelligence, but the power of theater, of human presence, of shared emotion,” said Rodrigo.
For the singer, This project also represents a defense of national culture in the face of global homogenization. “I am Mexican, and this music speaks of our insides, of how we feel and express ourselves. It hurts me to see the displacement of our culture due to gentrification or globalization,” he said.
“That’s why I feel the obligation to be a voice of our roots. When I sing in other countries, I like to sing my own thing. Nobody will do it better than us.”
The artist, recognized for his international career and his commitment to the rescue of the bolero, considers this concert as a culminating point in his path. Throughout his career he has shared the stage with figures such as Armando Manzanero and Juan Gabriel, and has kept the flame of romanticism alive with his own style that combines musical rigor and scenic sensitivity.
