Former UFC champion Ronda Rousey clearly still has beef with the sport’s lead color commentator and influential podcaster Joe Rogan. She made that much clear in a new interview with comedian Bert Kreischer.
Appearing on the “Bertcast Podcast,” Rousey was asked what she would need in order to return to fighting after nearly a decade away from the octagon. Rousey, 38, half-jokingly told Kreischer she could “beat the s–t” out of him right then and there.
Kreischer responded by saying he was going to ask Rogan for some tips on how to fight the former women’s bantamweight champion, which is when Rousey jumped in headfirst.
“He wouldn’t know,” Rousey said of Rogan, via the New York Post. “He’s not an expert, he’s a fan with an audience.”
Kreischer, who is friends with Rogan, brought up the 58-year-old’s Taekwondo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu backgrounds–he’s a black belt in the latter–but Rousey remained nonplussed.
“He never fought,” Rousey countered. “That’s not fighting.”
For several years now, there has been tension between these two members of MMA royalty, and it clearly has not dissipated.
Where it all went wrong for Rogan, Rousey
It wasn’t always like this between Rousey and Rogan. The UFC Hall of Famer was a guest on the The Joe Rogan Experiencein August 2015, but things changed a few months later when Rousey closed out her UFC career with losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
In an appearance on “The Chris Cuomo Project” in 2024, Rousey accused Rogan of turning on her once she faltered in the octagon.
“It was really disappointing to see how happily everybody turned on me and how people like Joe Rogan, who were crying in the ring about the honor of being able to call my fights, people I considered friends in the media so quickly turned on me,” Rousey said.
“I also am kind of grateful for it in a way because it forced me to separate other people’s perception of me from my own perception of myself.”
We’re not sure if these two can or will ever mend fences, but right now it’s obvious there’s still no love lost.
