Roy Cropper (David Neilson) couldn’t hide his disappointment in Carla Connor (Alison King) in tonight’s Coronation Street, after learning that she had lied to him about Becky Swain (Amy Cudden).
Viewers will know that Roy bumped into Becky in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, only to be left horrified when he spotted a picture of the dead woman and realised who she was.
As viewers will know, Becky supposedly died in a hit and run while on duty four years ago.
However, Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) world was turned upside down last week when her late wife suddenly reappeared and admitted she had been in witness protection the whole time.
Struggling to get her head around this development, Lisa left Becky alone with Carla, and things got more complicated when Roy turned up.
He confessed to Carla that he had seen Becky at the hospital, but she was quick to shut him down, insisting that he was wrong.
Unfortunately, in tonight’s episode, Roy interrupted a gathering of the Connor-Swains, and realised that his suspicions had been correct, and Becky really was alive.
He wasted no time in expressing his disappointment that Carla had not only lied to him, but allowed him to think that he was going mad.
Though Carla tried to explain, Roy wouldn’t hear it and, despite the warnings that Becky could be in danger, and therefore so could the rest of them, Roy refused to lie to anyone.
Feeling responsible for the fall out between the two good friends, Lisa later headed to the cafe to try and talk Roy round, explaining that Carla had only been trying to protect Lisa.
Unfortunately, as Lisa discussed not being able to get rid of Becky, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) overheard and asked who they were talking about.
In a panic, Lisa said that Becky was her sister, leaving Roy in an even more difficult position.
When Lisa got home and explained the interaction, Carla was horrified, pointing out that she’d only made things worse by making Roy lie.
Will Roy be able to keep Becky’s identity a secret, or is it just a matter of time before the wrong person learns she is still alive?
