Ruben Amorim is easing Bryan Mbeumo into life at Manchester United very slowly fans will have to wait to see the summer signing in action.

The £65m new arrival from Brentford has joined up with his new teammates and trained with the Red Devils, but Amorim is waiting to unleash him against opposition.

Manchester United’s pre-season preparation continued with a 2-1 win over West Ham in New Jersey, thanks to two goals from Bruno Fernandes, but Mbeumo was not involved in the squad.

The Cameroon international is not injured, but he is working on reaching match fitness, with Amorim not ready to put him in a game context just yet.

The Red Devils are back in action in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time against Bournemouth and Mbeumo will not be playing then either.

The former Bees star still has time to get up to speed before the Premier League season begins against Arsenal at Old Trafford on August 17.

After the clash with the Toffees in Atlanta, United return home to face Fiorentina at Old Trafford on Saturday August 9, their final pre-season action.

Fellow new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon were involved against the Hammers, with the Brazilian starting the match and the Paraguayan coming off the bench.

Amorim hailed a few of his star names after the win over West Ham, pointing out that Cunha will bring something to his side that was missing over the last campaign.

‘All the guys. I don’t want to talk specifically,’ Amorim said on who impressed him in the friendly, before talking specifically.

‘Rasmus [Hojlund] did well. I really liked Rasmus’s game, the runs and the way he fought during the game, one against one, when we kicked the ball. He connected with the team-mates so he did a great job.

‘Matheus Cunha is that kind of player that can help us, he can help us a lot because he can run with the ball and that is something that can change the game. We missed that last year.

‘In the first half, Kobbie [Mainoo] and Manu [Ugarte] were really good. I’m not going to talk about the second team because it’s really hard for 11 [10] players to go to the pitch, you know, a lot of young kids.

‘But I really like the team. Of course, you have to look at the game and you have to improve things.’
