Ruben Amorim has hailed Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson ahead of Manchester United’s trip to the City Ground – with the England international emerging as a top transfer target at Old Trafford.
Anderson has emerged as one of the country’s brightest midfield talents, enjoying a superb first season at Forest last season following a £35million move from Newcastle United.
He was part of the England Under-21 side that won the European Championships in the summer, making the jump to the senior side where he has played four games under Thomas Tuchel and is now expected to be part of the squad for next summer’s World Cup.
United were interested in signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton late in the summer transfer window and are also admirers of Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton.
But Anderson has also emerged as a top target.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Amorim highlighted Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White as two players his side must keep close tabs on when they meet on Saturday afternoon – with the latter effusive in his praise of an improving United side earlier this week.
Amorim also had special praise for club target Anderson, insisting his side must find a different way to play against Forest.
‘This is going on be a very different game,’ Amorim told Stan Sport Football.
‘We struggle a little bit to play away. Every play that Nottingham Forest do is going to create a buzz for the fans. And we need to be prepared for that. We need to play a different game.
‘We need to get to the final third and try to find the right spaces. It is going to be really hard. Sean Dyche is really smart and they have Gibbs White with a lot of talent.
They have Hudson-Odoi, they have Anderson, a very, very good player. So they have solutions.
‘They have top players, they have a very good coach, we need to play a different game but we will be prepared.’
United have racked up three wins on the spin against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton and a win today could lift them into the top three with sides around them not in action until Sunday.
