Rumours about Donald Trump’s health aren’t going away – and the announcement of a 2 pm press conference today has added fuel to the fire.
Despite appearing alive and well in a gold USA baseball cap while he entered a motorcade towards Trump National Golf Club, focus has been shifted to a nearby military hospital in Washington, DC.
Photographs of what appear to be road closures near the Walter Reed National Military Hospital, home of a Presidential suite where Trump was previously hospitalised in 2020 for COVID-19, have been circulating on X.
Metro could find no proof that these road closures were legitimate – only roads behind security gates, which are normally closed late at night.
Nevertheless, they’ve sparked conversation ahead of Trump’s ‘announcement’ today – his first conversation with the press after nearly a week.
Metro has contacted the White House to confirm that the announcement later today is legitimate.
Trump appeared to confirm he was alive and well in a Truth Social post. ‘NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE,’ he wrote.
Rumblings about Walter Reed Hospital ahead of today’s announcement
Claims that Melania Trump was spotted at the Presidential hospital in Washington, DC, have prompted speculation.
On Threads, one woman wrote: ‘Went to Walter Reed on Thursday to be monitored in Labour and Delivery because I’m very pregnant.
‘Mid-monitoring in triage, guess who showed up for an unscheduled ‘tour’ of Labour and Delivery? Melania Trump.
‘Even the staff was confused as to why she was there,’ she added.
A staff member at Walter Reed replied: ‘I was confused as to why she was here… it was odd… but not out of the ordinary, cause they tend to keep things running smoothly even when Secret Service is here… it just gets weird sometimes because everyone is curious.’
Walter Reed Hospital is commonly used by Washington politicians and has treated many U.S. presidents before. It’s likely that if anything did happen to Trump, he would receive treatment there.
Items being thrown out of the White House?
An unverified clip of a man throwing things out of a White House window has further fed into rumours about the President.
It appeared to show a black garbage bag tossed down from a second-storey window.
‘This can’t be legal,’ one person said.
Another added: ‘When in history has anything been chucked out the window – let alone during a potential health cover-up of the president. If this is a benign action, they are sure as hell making it hard on themselves by doing all this weird stuff.’
Health rumours which won’t go away
There were no events on Trump’s schedule last Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and the president spent his Labour Day weekend in Washington with no public appearances.
The photos of Trump walking to his car have also faced scrutiny, with users online analysing every pixel of the photo and claiming he looks different.
Yet, the conspicuous silence from the normally bombastic leader flooded dark corners of the internet with rumours of his untimely demise.
It comes after the 79-year-old was spotted with poorly blended and colour-matched concealer on his hand, sparking rumours of bruising and cannula usage.
Similar rumours spread when Joe Biden wasn’t seen for a few days in 2024, with Republican pundits posting questions about his whereabouts online.
