Earlier this week, one of the most high-profile couples on the planet shared some major news as Kansas City Chiefs superstar Travis Kelce and global pop sensation Taylor Swift officially announced their engagement.
They may be the most famous celebrity couple now, but after the big news this week, Swift and Kelce got some encouragement from someone who’s been in a similar relationship for years.
Wilson Has a Similar Relationship
Taylor and Travis might be the most high-profile couple to cross between the NFL and the pop music space, but they certainly were not the first.
Superstar NFL quarterback Russell Wilson has actually been part of a celebrity couple long before Taylor and Travis were even dating.
Back in 2016, Wilson married Ciara, a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer, after the two had been dating for a little over a year.
The pair have been together ever since, and have three children together – daughters Sienna and Amora, and son Win.
Needless to say, Wilson is quite familiar with navigating a high-profile relationship with a music superstar.
Wilson Has a 5 Word Message for the Couple
Wilson, who recently signed with the New York Giants after one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was asked his thoughts on the recent engagement between Kelce and Swift.
The star quarterback had a five-word message for the couple, saying that he was “a big believer in love.”
“Yeah, that’s exciting for them, man. Obviously, a big believer in love, so I’m excited for them,” Wilson told Fox News Digital.
Wilson and Ciara have been together for nearly a decade. Clearly, Wilson wishes the same happiness for Kelce and Swift.
Kelce and Wilson Will Meet on the Field
Wilson will soon have the chance to congratulate Kelce in person as their respective teams will actually meet on the field early in the NFL season.
On Sept. 21, the Chiefs will travel to New York to take on Wilson and the Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Given that Swift has multiple properties in New York, it would seem likely that she would be in attendance at the game, too.
