The South African Police Service (SAPS) has disputed claims that missing Pretoria business man, Jerry Boshoga has been found. He has business links to controversial entrepreneur, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
According to SAPS, Boshoga who is a farmer and tenderpreneur, was kidnapped on 18 November 2024. He had been attending a business meeting in Centurion. Soon after, the kidnappers began sending videos of Boshoga being tortured and they demanded a ransom of R10 million from his family.
“In the last twenty-four hours unverified social media accounts have shared misleading and false information claiming that Mr Boshoga has been found deceased,” said SAPS.

“The investigation into his kidnapping is still at a very sensitive stage and the businessman has not been found alive nor deceased,” SAPS emphasised.
SAPS has therefore called on all social media users to stop sharing the unverified information. They further urged social media users to spare a thought for the family of the victim before sharing such posts.
Police also warned that the spreading of the misleading information had caused unnecessary trauma and panic. They said the posts had also caused anxiety for Boshoga’s close family members, including his mother, wife and children.
FAMILY FINGERS CAT MATLALA IN MISSING BUSINESSMAN CASE
Earlier this month, Boshoga’s family claimed disgraced businessman, Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala, was responsible for the kidnapping. SAPS has not verified nor denied these claims.
What they have confirmed however, is that they are still searching for Boshoga and called for responsible social media reporting around the case.
“The SAPS is in close contact with the family and if there are any developments in the case, the family will be the first to be notified by the investigating team,” they concluded.
