Mexico City.- During the last weeks, various scandals due to possible corruption persecuted the former governor of Tabasco and current senator of the Republic, Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandez. From irregularities in his declared income to controversies with members close to his cabinet when he was governor, such as the case of La Barredora.
From the outset, the possible links that stood out Adam Augustus had with Hernan Bermudez —who was his security secretary while he governed Tabasco—, arrested for having links with the criminal group called La Barredora: he was identified as the leader of said group dedicated to drug dealing and extortion. However, the senator declared he had no knowledge of these accusations.
Subsequently, the senator was accused of not declaring 79 million pesos that he obtained between 2023 and 2024, from private companies. These payments were made from some signatures signed by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) like “ghosts”. The law requires that asset declarations be made truthfully.
The coordinator of the Morenista senators was also accused of supporting a network of notaries in Tabasco, where he benefited people very close to the politician with millionaire government contracts. At least five notary offices functioned as allies to give approval for the formation of commercial companies, registries and articles of incorporation of companies even linked to the Master Scam—the diversion of resources from Pemex—; The business was around 11 billion pesos. In the case of the notary’s office, he was accused of awarding contracts for almost 600 million pesos to firms belonging to friends and clients of his notary’s office in Tabasco.
To the previous scandals, accusations were also added for owning shares in companies linked to real estate businesses, as well as accusations that reached his children —Adán Payambé and Augusto Andrés—, accused of having significant salaries without having completed their bachelor’s studies, as well as benefiting from their father’s political relationships.
