The turnover of express mail and parcel companies is expected to reach 1,130 million euros in 2025, marking a growth of 3.7% compared to 2024.
This increase is driven by growth in private consumption and the expansion of e-commerce.
According to an analysis by Informa D&B, the growth predicted for 2025 follows an even more significant increase in 2024, when the sector grew 5.3%.
In 2024, domestic transport increased by 6.8% compared to 2023, while international transport services grew by 3.8%.
“Process automation and investment in information systems will be crucial to improving operational efficiency and quality of services”, highlighted the analysis. Therefore, it is expected that the process of business concentration will continue, both nationally and internationally.
In recent years, the number of companies in the sector has increased, especially with the entry of independent workers and micro-enterprises on digital urban delivery platforms.
Greater Lisbon and the North region concentrate the largest number of operators, totaling around two thirds of the sector. In 2024, the market share of the five main operators in Portugal was 50.7%, rising to more than 70% if we consider the ten largest.
In general terms, in 2024, the sector had 10,525 companies and a market of 1,090 million euros, with a growth of 5.3% compared to the previous year.
