Mexico City. – At the end of the first year of functions of the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco)under the management of Manola Zabalzaannounced the launch of the program Flourishing Markets that seeks to improve the infrastructure of public markets. The tenants have submitted their demands in letters to the capital government and in working groups with representatives of the local Congress and the Government Secretariat, with minutes as evidence of the status of the tenants. Public Markets.
One of these letters was sent since June to the capital government, where the Plural Movement of Merchants, indicated “the budget assigned for the fiscal year 2025 does not yet have the institutional action program to support public markets and that program is normally published no later than April.” In the same document, the tenants warned of the loss of public money for not complying with the regulations.
In a diagnosis that the tenants reported to the local authorities, 74 markets are also observed to be at high risk, where roof repairs and waterproofing are urgently needed in 27 markets; electrical installation to 20 properties; drainage and sewage in 19 buildings; and in structure, floors and finishes in another 10 markets.
