Comedian and NBC late night television host Seth Meyers shared some tough news Tuesday.
Meyers’ dog Frisbee, who he frequently talked about over the years, has passed away. The Late Night with Seth Meyers front man and former SNL cast member announced his beloved pet’s passing on Instagram.
“RIP to Frisbee, our OG IG who I was happy to go grey with,” Meyers wrote. “She was at her best curled in your lap and patient when we dressed her up like a pilgrim. Thanks for 14 amazing years, girl.”
Meyers also included several photos of Frisbee enjoying herself, leading with one of her giving him kisses.
Other celebrities are mourning with Meyers
Many celebrities and constituents of Meyers have been honoring Frisbee’s memory in the comments section of the post.
“Frisbee forever 🥏,” said actress and comedian Amy Poehler.
“Oh no Sethy boy – may his memory be a blessing,” added comedian Adam Pally.
“Oh nooooo!!! So sorry buddy!!! ❤️❤️,” chimed in comedian and actor Kenan Thompson.
“Oh Seth!!! Darlingest of the darling dogs. Sending you all my love.” added actress Sarah Paulson.
“She was so lucky to have you guys. Rest in peace, Frisbee. ❤️,” said actress and writer Edi Patterson.
Andy Samberg vs. Frisbee
Other people made note of the “beef” between comedian Andy Samberg and Frisbee, with more than one person saying they hope the pooch “haunts Andy Samberg for years to come 🖤 .”
The “feud” has been going on for several years, dating back to 2020 and continuing to be a running joke between the two.
“Seth’s nightmare-inducing hell spawn Frisbee continues to maintain its identity as a dog when it’s clearly some sort of rat-foreskin hybrid,” Samberg said in 2023.
Recently, Meyers appeared on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast and the two attempted to prank Samberg into believing Frisbee had died. Samberg didn’t take the bait, but the conversation is a bit haunting in retrospect.
Pet loss is a brutal type of pain
Meyers and his family are undoubtedly dealing with a lot at the moment.
Pet loss can be an unbearable thing to deal with, which is why there are various resources available for anyone struggling with it.
“Your grief is valid. While some people who have a different type of understanding or relationship with animals may not be able to relate or support you in your time of need, other animal-lovers who feel similarly to you understand the depth of your pain,” writes psychologist Sarah Shelton. “Connecting with others who understand pet loss can help lessen the feeling of isolation and negative judgment you may experience from others in your life.”
