Settlers escalate in the West Bank, and the occupation acknowledges that the attacks are out of control news

Today, 3 Palestinian farmers were injured by settlers’ bullets who attacked them while they were picking olives in the village of Minya, southeast of Bethlehem in the West Bank, while an Israeli security source said that settler attacks in the West Bank had gotten out of control.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that settlers set fire to a vehicle and an agricultural room in the town of Far’ata, east of Qalqilya in the West Bank.

Settlers released their livestock onto Palestinian lands and among olive trees in the Sa’ir wilderness area, northeast of Hebron, and Khirbet Sha’b al-Batm in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in simultaneous attacks targeting the olive season.

Palestinian settlers also attacked foreign activists in the town of Beita, south of Nablus in the West Bank.

A number of Palestinians were injured during a settler attack on Palestinian farmers while picking olives on lands between the village of Burin and the town of Huwwara, south of Nablus.

In the same context, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted an Israeli security source as saying that settler attacks in the West Bank had gotten out of control.

Continuous attacks

For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that settler attacks during the annual olive harvest season continue throughout the West Bank.

The agency noted that last month was the most violent for settlers in the West Bank in 12 years.

She explained that settler attacks during the olive season threaten the way of life of many Palestinians in the West Bank.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission also revealed the intention of the occupation authorities to study the construction of about 2,006 new settlement units in the West Bank during two working sessions next Monday and Wednesday of the Supreme Planning Council for Settlement Construction.

According to the Commission, the construction includes large settlement neighborhoods on an area of ​​1,072 dunums of Palestinian land in settlements in the northern, central, and southern West Bank.

Escalation wave

In a parallel context, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission announced that the Palestinians were subjected to about 259 attacks during the olive harvest season at the hands of the army and settlers.

A report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the current olive season in the West Bank witnessed the highest level of settler attacks in 5 years.

The report documented 126 attacks carried out by settler gangs on more than 70 Palestinian villages and towns, including sabotage of more than 4,000 trees and olive seedlings.

These attacks fall within a wide wave of Israeli escalation in the West Bank by the army and settlers during the two years of genocide in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of 1,063 Palestinians and the injury of about 10,000 others, in addition to the arrest of more than 20,000 people, including 1,600 children.

Since October 2023, the Israeli genocide in Gaza has left at least 68,858 Palestinian martyrs and 170,664 injured, most of them children and women.

Although the ceasefire took effect on October 10, according to US President Donald Trump’s plan, Israel violated it more than once, killing and wounding hundreds of Palestinians.
