“It is about not only the national weather warning reaching the governors’ offices, the municipal offices, but also through the cell phone, Just as we already have it for earthquakes, direct warning can reach the communities. If a dam is going to be released, for example, because it is already extremely flooded and the community has to be alerted so that they move from the places, get to the shelters,” he explained.
The idea, he said, is that, in addition to the current system that is by megaphone, notifying the municipal presidents, “get directly to the phone with the phone that can be located in certain areas.”
Within the framework of the morning press conference, the head of the federal Executive announced the four axes of work that her government has, in the face of the emergency due to rains registered in the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí.
Among these four axes, he explained that there is attention to the emergency, which in the case of the rains in the five states has not yet ended, also support for victims, reconstruction and strengthening the warning system.
He said that work is being done to strengthen the forecasting, warning and risk system. “The national coordination of Civil Protection has a scientific committee, but we are strengthening that scientific committee with scientists from the UNAM, the Polytechnic, the Tecnológico and different centers of the Ministry of Science and Technology. to be able to once again develop actions that allow us to strengthen the warning systemmeasurements, mathematical models,” he noted.
