The president Claudia Sheinbaum He stressed that it would be irresponsible and create risks to annul the 2023 decree for the transfer of cargo from the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

Given the criticism against the decision made by the then president Andrés Manuel López Obrador of transferring the load from one terminal to another – derived from the announcement of the United States Department of Transportation of the closure of two routes and the suspension of 11 more – the Mexican president stressed that changing the situation would generate security and saturation problems.

“There are those who tell us: ‘well, eliminate the cargo decree of the 23rd that President López Obrador made,’ and I don’t know what else they ask for“It would be very irresponsible to do so because there would be saturation, but we also do not believe that the competition of American airlines has been affected, we do not believe that,” he stressed.

He stressed that Mexican companies made an agreement to better distribute flight schedules, and that his administration agrees that no airline is favored within the framework of competition and commercial agreements.

“But what we do not agree with is that it puts users at risk and that, in addition, investments that have already been made by the lines that are dedicated to cargo in the AIFA have a setback, it must be explained well, and we hope that does not have a political background or support for any American companythe framework of what is being defined for Mexico,” he commented.

Sheinbaum meets with companies affected by suspension
