Simón Levy, a former federal and local official who is in Portugal, has six arrest warrants derived from the fact that he has not attended the hearings for the accusations against him, reported the Attorney General of Justice of Mexico City (CDMX), Bertha Alcalde Lujan.
Yesterday, during the press conference led by the head of government for the laying of the first stone of Utopia in Tláhuac, the prosecutor pointed out that Interpol Mexico reported that the former undersecretary of federal Tourism Planning was arrested on October 28 in Lisbon, for a red card derived from two arrest warrants in force against him, which he had in Mexico, for the crimes of damage to other people’s property, threats, crimes against the environment and responsibility of directors responsible for construction.
“As we have reported, these crimes, although they are not preventive detention, ex officio as such, the arrest warrants were issued because on six different occasions, Simón “N” was summoned to a hearing, he did not attend and that is why the control judge issued these orders, which already had time. He had sought protection at the time and because he had not attended the hearings again, the protection had become ineffective.”
He indicated that his arrest was initially notified by Interpol Portugal to the Mexican authorities; however, a day later, he was presented before the Court of Appeal of Lisbon, “which released him, under precautionary measures, while analyzing possible dual nationality.”
“The information we have is that he currently remains in Portuguese territory and we hope to formalize this request, we are going to formalize this extradition request through the corresponding diplomatic channels”held.
