Sir Mo, Former WWE Tag Team Champion, Dead at 58 Amid Health Issues

Former professional wrestler Bobby Horne, who was known under the ring name Sir Mo, has died at the age of 58. The wrestler died after battling several health issues over the past few years.

His death was announced by Book Pro Wrestlers on Facebook on Sunday night.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Bobby Horne, known to wrestling fans around the world as Sir Mo of Men on a Mission, has passed away,” they wrote.

“Bobby…made his mark in the wrestling world with his infectious energy, booming personality, and unmistakable charisma.”

In recent years, the wretler shared his ongoing health battles online, with one video update from a hosptial bed in July. Horne revealed he had major intestinal surgery, with his colon having not worked for several years.

Earlier this month, a fundraiser was set up to help Horne and his wife, Denise Jones, with medical bills. Horne had landed in the ICU after “a severe blood infection and pneumonia.”

His medical history also included a kidney transplant in 2018, and landed in the ICU after contracting a severe case of COVID-19. Pro wrestler Ryzin, who worked with Horne in recent years, also commented the wrestler was “fighting for his life.”

Horne enterted the wrestling ring in 1991, before becoming a well-known name among fans when moving up the roster to the WWE. He wrestled for the company between 1993 and 1996, winning the tag team championship in March 1994 alongside the wrestler Mabel. 

After the WWE, Horned continued wrestling moslty in tag teams in the independent circuit. He was later inducted into the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame as well as the Memphis Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Tributes and condolences for the former WWE star have poured in since the news of his death. WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry posted on X, “Rest in Peace Sir Mo! We crossed paths many years ago but It was great to make your acquaintance again even though it was late in our lives.”

Former WWE star Leilani Kai also posted a tribute to Horne commenting, “he was just as genuine outside the spotlight as he was under it.”

“He loved the business, loved the fans, and loved giving back. Bobby had that special kind of warmth that reminded you wrestling isn’t just about what happens in the ring — it’s about the people and memories that come with it.”

“Rest in peace, my friend. Thank you for every laugh, every kind word, and every night we shared on the road. You’ll be missed by all of us who knew you.”
