Police, paramedics and firefighters from the Ministry of Public Security (SSP) mobilized to the Los Reyes neighborhood of Mérida after the report of a fire in a home where, it was said, a person with a disability was trapped.
Several SSP units rushed to 81-A and 90-B streets. When they arrived at the house, they did not locate the fire, although a person with the indicated characteristics was in the house, who was asking for help.
With the help of pliers, the police cut a padlock and entered to verify that there were no injured people.
Signs of a short circuit were found in an electric grill, which generated a fire outbreak and strong smoke.
The agents spoke with an elderly man, apparently the father of the disabled person, who thanked the emergency services for their response and explained to the police what had happened.
The disabled person was crying because of the fright she got and because she had turned on the “stove.”
Paramedics treated her and indicated that she was only having a nervous breakdown. Firefighters became aware of the incident and after confirming that there was no longer a risk, they left.
The Police took the information of the people in the house and also left minutes after completing the procedure.— Gabriel Chan Uicab
