With brush in hand and the commitment to serve, the campaign began “Paint with your heart, paint with Berel”an initiative that joins the company Pinturas Berel and the Municipal DIF of Mérida with the same purpose: to renew the spaces of civil associations that dedicate their daily work to improve the lives of children, young people and adults with disabilities or in vulnerable situations.
Color here becomes a powerful metaphor, since it is not just about walls that will have new tones, but about environments that are dignified, spaces that will take on new life thanks to the collaboration between the business sector, the municipal DIF and organized civil society.
In this first stage, the Sol y Luna associations, and Building Smiles They are the direct beneficiaries of this solidarity action that seeks, as its name indicates, to paint with the heart.
Gerardo López Fernández, director of the Municipal DIF, highlighted the importance of this type of synergies.
“Berel teams up with the Mérida City Council, and what we are looking for is that, through the sale of its products until December 15, a percentage is allocated to improving the facilities of civil associations. It is a joint effort in which everyone wins: the companies, the associations and, above all, the community,” he said.
The official recalled that the City Council currently maintains links with 67 civil society groups, which it supports directly or through alliances such as this one.
“If one day the associations could not do the work they do, no level of government could replace them. Therefore, each gesture of collaboration means a real impact on the people who need it most,” he emphasized.
Ángel Manuel Zupo Herrera, manager of Marketing of Berel Sureste Paintsexplained that this campaign reaffirms the company’s social vocation.
“We have supported causes such as the fight against cancer, reforestation and sports leagues and this time we wanted to focus our efforts on civil associations. They are the ones who most require a decent environment to continue working with the people they serve every day,” he commented.
The dynamic is simple, but significant. Every purchase that Yucatecans make in one of the more than 70 Berel branches in the state until December 15 will translate into painting and professional labor to beautify institutions that dedicate their work to the common well-being.
“The more people join, the more associations we can help. And also, the stores are offering the free gallon promotion, so it is a great opportunity to support and renew the home,” added Zupo Herrera.
For those who receive this gesture, the value of color transcends the aesthetic.
Marian Hijlkema, director of Sol y Luna, He highlighted that this type of support is invaluable.
“It is very difficult to get donations for maintenance or infrastructure improvements. Many times they want to give you a wheelchair, but not something for the place where that person will be cared for. Therefore, having Berel and the DIF help us paint our headquarters is a blessing. We choose the colors together, thinking about what our institution represents. Today everything looks clean and pretty, but it will be much more cheerful and colorful… and that also influences the mood of the children and families,” she shared excitedly.
Sol y Luna A.C. attends to children with diverse developmental challenges through five technical areas, nutrition, self-care, communication; neurodevelopment and psychopedagogy, actively involving parents in therapeutic processes. His work has been recognized for promoting autonomy and family integration.
Valentina Herrero Buchanan, responsible for fundraising and communication Building Smiles ACagreed on the relevance of this type of collaboration.
“We have been dedicated for more than 60 years to promoting inclusion, education and physical rehabilitation of people with functional diversity. Having our facilities renovated and full of color is also a way to renew the spirit. Not only are walls being painted, hearts are being painted,” he said.
In addition, he called on companies, schools and citizens to join.
“Civil associations are allies of society. We all have something to contribute, from our work, time or resources. Together we can do much more,” he indicated.
“Paint with your heart” is, in essence, a reminder that solidarity is also expressed through tangible actions. That every brushstroke can be a message of hope and every freshly painted wall, the reflection of a community that believes in shared work.
The invitation is open to the entire public. Each purchase at Pinturas Berel will be a direct contribution to those who, from their trenches, transform lives in Yucatán. Because when color joins empathy, the result is always a mural of humanity.
