The introduction of agentic coding tools has fundamentally changed software development. This development has reached a new dimension, especially for Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO of Solana Labs. At the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, Yakovenko explained that he is increasingly willing to take a back seat to software development tasks and observe the work of AI-powered tools.

Yakovenko describes his experience with agentic coding as a kind of power amplifier for experts. After over 15 years in software development, he can now watch Claude, an AI tool, complete his tasks. He emphasizes that he has now developed a sense for when the AI deviates from its course.

Solana, one of the leading cryptocurrencies, has achieved remarkable success this year despite the difficulties faced by many other cryptocurrencies. The system recently reported annual revenue of $2.85 billion, driven primarily by crypto trading platforms. Particularly impressive was the launch of the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) for the Solana coin, launched by Bitwise, a crypto asset manager, which saw nearly $70 million in inflows in one day.

Yakovenko attributes Solana’s success to the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies, especially by the traditional financial industry. He emphasizes that financial professionals who regularly deal with settlement and banking risks understand and accept cryptocurrencies more quickly.

At the same time, the cryptocurrency industry is under criticism, particularly in connection with the Solana-hosted Trumpcoin, which allegedly funneled $350 million to the former president. Critics see this as a form of bribery, especially after Trump’s high-profile pardons of Tron founder Justin Sun and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao.

However, Yakovenko emphasizes that, as an open protocol, Solana has little control over the coins hosted. He explains that he could just as easily send a link to Trumpcoin or Fartcoin via email, since both are based on protocols that create markets.
