Sophie Turner has recalled the time when an innocent gesture apparently resulted in an A-list Hollywood couple calling off their engagement.
The Game of Thrones star, 29, rose to fame on the American fantasy series, playing series heroine Sansa Stark throughout all eight seasons between 2011 and 2019.
Between 2019 and 2024, she was married to Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers – with whom she shares two children – and has rubbed shoulders with the top brass in Hollywood for some time now.
But rubbing shoulders apparently isn’t all Sophie did – she now claims to have broken up a high-profile couple, if her latest confession on Late Night with Seth Meyers is to be believed.
The Northampton-born actress appeared on the late-night talk show to promote her brand-new movie, The Dreadful, which she stars in alongside fellow Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington.
During their conversation, Sophie and Seth both reflected on the first time they met each other, which was at the San Diego Comic Con afterparty in 2014.
Sophie, who was 19 years old at the time, then recalled how a night that began in ‘high spirits’ went ‘really south really quickly’.
‘We were going to have a great night,’ she began. ‘And then – I really can’t name names or I’ll get in a lot of trouble. But I brought my best friend from my school days with me.
‘She saw an actor she absolutely loved, and [she asked me] if I could just say hello [on her behalf],’ Sophie explained, also revealing that she’d never seen this actor before in her life and that she didn’t recognise him.

‘I didn’t know this actor, so I just [waved], and that was it. But then, later on, I saw this girl looking at me, and she was a famous actress. I had to go and tell [this actress] how much she means to me.’
But when Sophie walked over, that’s when things turned bad.
‘I danced over and this actress said, “Can you stop flirting with my fiancé?” So I ask who her fiancé was, and she pointed at the guy I’d waved at. I have no idea who this man is, but it turns out they broke their engagement off that night.’
She laughed: ‘[Apparently] because of my wave. I didn’t realise I held this power. [I said to my school friend] “Look what you did!”

It’s not clear who the couple was, but since Sophie’s story went out, several online sleuths have been aiming to piece together the clues and uncover the true story.
This latest story from Sophie comes just days after she was criticised – and then immediately hit back – for apparently ‘forgetting’ her children at an Oasis concert.
After she posted a photo of herself and a friend at a recent Gallagher brothers show on social media, her followers ‘reminded’ the actress of her daughters Willa and Delphine.
To which Sophie responded: ‘Ah, I’m so sorry, sometimes I forget some people can’t think for themselves. There’s this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day.’
