Southwest Airlines Adding Flights to California Hotspot in 2026

Southwest Airlines is expanding its flight log to a popular California tourism area in April 2026, the company announced Thursday.

Beginning April 7 of next year, the popular budget airline will run flights to Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport, located in Santa Rosa. This marks the third new destination for 2026 that Southwest has revealed recently.

The other three are:

“We aren’t slowing down in our pursuit to provide Customers with more options than ever before,” said Southwest COO Andrew Watterson. “Adding Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport to our route map provides more access to California’s famed Wine Country for our Customers and further solidifies our yearslong commitment to California.”

How it works

Flights to and from Santa Rosa, which is a hotspot in California’s wine country, will connect with five Southwest hubs:Denver, Las Vegas, San Diego and Burbank, California.

The Las Vegas and San Diego routes will operate daily, with two San Diego roundtrips during peak travel times. Burbank will run five days week, while Denver will start as a Saturday-only endeavor.

Southwest also promotes expansion on social media

The official Southwest Airlines Instagram page also touted today’s announcement in a post this afternoon.

“We’re adding Santa Rosa, California to our destination map! Whether you’re looking to sit back and relax with a glass of wine in the Sonoma Valley, explore the majestic Redwoods, or take in the sea breeze we’ve got you covered,” the post reads. “Service to our 14th Californian airport, Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, will begin on April 7, 2026 and will be available for booking tomorrow.”

Flights to Santa Rosa are available tomorrow morning.
