Special Performance Announced for World Series Game 1

The World Series is set to begin on Friday night, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Toronto Blue Jays.

For one team, it’s a chance to establish themselves as back-to-back champions. The other team is looking to win its first World Series title in over 30 years, following an epic comeback in the ALCS.

The stage is set for Friday’s opening game between the champions of the American and National Leagues, but Major League Baseball is providing fans with some special pregame entertainment.

MLB has announced that Grammy winner Pharrell Williams and gospel group Voices of Fire will perform on the field in Toronto before first pitch.

Pharrell’s Unique Performance

Williams “will take the field with Bishop Ezekiel Williams’ group Voices of Fire to welcome fans to the biggest stage in baseball with a synthesized setlist featuring ‘ARE YOU READY?’ and ‘THE ONE’ from their new album OPHANIM.”

The “Happy” singer” worked closely with MLB and Emmy award-winning production company Jesse Collins Entertainment…taking the themes of unity and togetherness in honoring baseball as a global sport.”

Pharrell and Voices of Fire have been featured prominently in Major League Baseball’s advertising campaign for the 2025 postseason, and fans will be able to hear them live and in person on Thursday before the first game of the series.

All eyes in the baseball world will be on Shohei Ohtani, the Dodgers’ two-way superstar who put the team into the World Series with an epic performance. Ohtani pitched six scoreless innings on the mound and had three home runs in a game that some believe to be the greatest individual performance ever.

What’s at Stake in the 2025 World Series?

Ohtani and the rest of the Dodgers will look to make team history with a back-to-back title. The world champions would become the first team since the dominant New York Yankees of the late 1990s and early 2000s to win two championships in a row. Another Dodger title would be the third in five years, cementing the team as the one true baseball dynasty of the decade.

The Blue Jays, as they’ve done for much of the postseason, will look to play spoiler. They came back from a near insurmountable point against the Seattle Mariners, and will now have home field advantage to begin the championship round.

Fans can tune in to see Game 1 of the World Series on FOX Friday night. We’ll see if the league brings in any more celebrities to perform ahead of future games in the series.
