It’s all gone from bad to worse for the Springboks after Rassie Erasmus confirmed that captain Siya Kolisi has suffered a knee injury that has ruled him out for the next month.
He will likely miss at least the next three Rugby Championship Tests, including the back-to-back away games against the All Blacks, which are next on the schedule after this Saturday’s Test against the Wallabies in Cape Town.
In his absence, the Springboks will need to find another option at No 8 – likely to be Cobus Wiese – while Jesse Kriel or Pieter-Steph du Toit are expected to take over the captaincy.
