Springboks to name team TODAY: Here’s when!

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has tended to name his team early in the week – as opposed to a Thursday or Friday as many other Test sides do – in order to avoid any speculation in the media.

Erasmus has generally opted to name the Springbok team on a Tuesday, but at the start of the Rugby Championship, it has been confirmed that he will reveal his first selections on Monday.

The Springbok team to face the Wallabies at Ellis Park this Saturday will now be named at 11:30 today, 11 August.

Springboks expect to name a strong side

Erasmus said the focus for now was on the first two matches against the Wallabies.

“We are approaching the tournament in three different blocks, the first of which is the leg against Australia, and we have no doubt they will want to build on their performances in their last two matches against the British & Irish Lions,” Erasmus said.

“Similarly, we would like to continue building momentum and our results in the Incoming Series, although we are under no illusions about the challenges these teams will pose.

“We are excited for the challenge ahead, and we are looking forward to returning to the field next week.”
