Starbucks to Release New Protein-Packed Cold Foam and Lattes—Here’s When You Can Get Them – Bundlezy

Starbucks to Release New Protein-Packed Cold Foam and Lattes—Here’s When You Can Get Them

Earlier this year, Starbucks revealed that it was testing a protein cold foam. Now, the highly anticipated beverage is ready for its debut. Plus, another protein-packed drink is joining the menu.

Protein is the food trend that has taken over the conversation. Starbucks reported that the 2025 IFIC Food and Health Survey found 70% of American consumers are seeking more protein. With eight in 10 people choosing to increase their protein intake, food brands are responding with new menu items that capture the trend.

When Can Guests Get Their First Taste of the Starbucks Protein Beverages?

According to a recent Starbucks announcement, the new Protein Cold Foam and Protein Lattes will arrive in stores on September 29. They will be part of the permanent menu.

The new beverages will feature between 15 to 36 g of protein per 16 oz beverage. Additional details on calories per serving or other nutrients were not shared.

The lattes will be made with a “protein-boosted milk.” Given that statement, this drink is not suitable for people who prefer plant-based milk alternatives.

In a company statement, Tressie Leiberman, Starbucks global chief brand officer said, “Our new protein beverages tap into the growing consumer demand for protein in an innovative, premium and delicious way that only Starbucks can deliver.” Embracing the protein trend is one of many ways that Starbucks is heading back to the coffeehouse and adapting to customers’ wants.

Starbucks’ Protein Cold Foam Will Come in All the Favorite Flavors

While Starbucks began testing a Protein Cold Foam with a new banana option, guests will be able to choose from many flavors. Those choices include plain, vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel and brown sugar.

Additionally, seasonal options, like pumpkin and pecan, will also be available. It is unclear if other seasonal flavors or new cold foam launches will include a protein option.

The initial testing of the banana cold foam followed the social media popularity of banana coffee. Having personally tested the Starbucks banana cold foam at Starbucks Leadership Experience 25 in Las Vegas earlier this year, the banana flavor is strong, but it tastes like the real fruit. Since it avoids an artificial flavor, it makes the coffee beverage quite enjoyable to drink.

Lastly, Starbucks found a protein powder that blends well in its cold foam. There is no gritty texture or chalky aftertaste. The light, airy consistency of the cold foam is key to its enjoyment.

Will the Protein Lattes Change Guests’ Morning Routines?

While everyone expected the Protein Cold Foam announcement, the Protein Lattes could be the real game changer for Starbucks. These beverages include 27 g to 36 g of protein per 16 oz serving.

The coffee giant basically found a way to combine a protein shake with a morning caffeine fix. Consumers no longer have to consume two beverages. Starbucks has created a flavorful, adaptable and convenient protein enriched latte.

As fans react to the news, one item is missing from the line-up. The Protein Lattes are exciting, but they are a dairy option. Since many people are choosing plant-based alternatives, Starbucks may want to expand its offerings to include that non-dairy alternative.
