The bankruptcy of Segula Technologies poses a significant challenge for Stellantis. The company urgently needs to find a new operator for its large car test center near Frankfurt. This facility, which is one of the largest test centers in Europe, is an essential part of automotive development in the region. The closure of the locations in Rodgau-Dudenhofen and Rüsselsheim not only affects the infrastructure, but also the future of many employees.

With Segula Technologies’ decision to close its locations, 287 employees are facing termination. A smaller team will oversee the decommissioning work until the end of the year. Stellantis is planning to set up a transfer company for 82 experienced employees at the Dudenhofen location in order to open up new professional perspectives for them and make the transition easier.

After the takeover of Opel by Peugeot parent PSA, Segula Technologies took over essential parts of the development and testing activities. This gave the company access to one of the largest and most versatile test centers in Europe, which was put into operation back in 1966. The facility offers a variety of demanding test tracks, including vibration tracks and banked curves, which are of great importance for automotive development.

Although Segula Technologies filed for bankruptcy on its own initiative in July, other business areas in Germany are not affected. These include the Segula Holding and subsidiaries that deal with temporary employment and engineering services. Opel, which continues to own the test site, is actively negotiating with possible new operators to ensure the operation of the test center in the future.
