It feels like it has been years since anything new has dropped for Street Fighter 6, and some fans may have been feeling a little anxious about the game’s future, given the last character release was C. Viper back in October 2025. Finally, there is some news.
Capcom posted Alex’s gameplay trailer to YouTube and socials to give fans a glimpse at his new and returning moves, his new design, and his release date.
In the trailer, Alex is seen working out and saying, “guys like me can make some good cash putting their bodies on the line.” Some additional story implications were displayed, too, with Alex saying, “seems like a lifetime ago that I was spending my time fighting in the streets.”
For gameplay, his move set appears to be intact and expanded on from his prior appearance in Street Fighter 5. Capcom has confirmed to Men’s Journal that Alex has a new stance, more than 10 throws, and “new moves that transition seamlessly into one another to make him a fighting force whether he’s in the ring or on the streets.”
Alex will be released on March 17 as part of the Year 3 Character Pass. Additionally, Alex’s Outfit 1 reflects his role as the Dark Devil of the ring, while Outfit 2 reflects his classic appearance from Street Fighter 3: New Generation (back when Alex was the leading character of the Street Fighter 3 series).
Alex will be the third character released as part of the Year 3 Character Pass; Sagat and C. Viper are already available, and Ingrid will be the fourth and final character of the season when she releases sometime in late spring 2026.
Street Fighter 6 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Year 3 Character Pass is purchasable on any of those platform digital storefronts for around $29.99. Alex will also be available for individual purchase when he releases on March 17.
