Strictly star’s wife goes to extreme lengths to ‘avoid dreaded TV curse’

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 star Chris Robshaw’s wife, Camilla Kerslake, has reportedly used an unconventional method to chase away the notorious curse.

The Strictly curse refers to the trend that, most years, when the BBC show makes its grand return, at least one pro or celebrity ends their long-term relationship – normally ending up with their dance partner after their run comes to an end.

Just earlier this week, Dianne Buswell and Joe Sugg, who met on the show in 2019, announced they were expecting their first child together. And they are far from the only Strictly couple to be brought together through the power of the dance floor.

As another round of celebrities warm up for the new series, the wife of one of the contestants, former England rugby captain Chris, 39, has attempted to get ahead of any sordid speculation.

Brit nominated opera singer Camilla Kerslake, 37, has been with Chris for almost 15 years, with the pair getting married in 2018 and sharing two children.

As one insider revealed, she has already invited Chris’ pro-partner over for dinner to build a friendship and prevent any ‘gossiping about the curse’, acknowledging that all too often women are ‘pitted against each other’.

The source added to The Sun: ‘Chris’ partner is totally on board. They have shared common ground and want to make sure they’re a unified group – rather than Camilla being on the outside.

‘There are plans to spend time together before the series kicks off, and Camilla is looking forward to getting to know Chris’ partner, beyond the headlines.

‘Chris has said he thinks both women will hit it off as mates, and has joked to people close to him that he’s going to be the third wheel.’

He’s not the only Strictly star preoccupied with the curse. Last week, Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis said his wife of 25 years was also worried, although he had reassured her that it would all be okay.

Before that, JLS star JB Gill made clear that he is not concerned about the curse at all.

He said about his relationship with the backing dancer: ‘We communicate incredibly well and we’ve always said that’s one of the keys to a very successful and strong relationship, let alone marriage. For us, this is not gonna change that at all.

‘To be honest, I probably have the best wife that you could have, for any contestant doing this show, because she comes from that world,’

Not everyone is shunning it though, with drag star La Voix entering the ballroom single and ready to mingle.

‘I say bring it on, you know what I mean? I’m single. Absolutely,’ she told Metro, adding that she is ‘living the dream’.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday, September 20, on BBC One.
