The UK has officially turned into a sauna again, and if you, like every other person in the country, are struggling to sleep – one of these TikTok sleep hacks could be the answer.
Temperatures are reaching over 30 degrees again this week, which means everyone is literally melting. Nobody has air con in their houses, so sleeping is practically impossible right now.
If that old fan just isn’t cutting it, these five TikTok sleep hacks are worth a shot.
The sleepy girl mocktail
@cassyeungmoney Replying to @mzamazingliv 10/10.. my dreams were crazy though lol
The sleepy girl mocktail went viral a few years ago, a drink made up of just three ingredients: magnesium, tart cherry juice and soda. Cherry juice contains melatonin, the hormone that regulates sleep, and magnesium also has a calming effect, promoting relaxation and making it easier to fall asleep. Put the two together, and you’re onto a winner.
Acupuncture pressure
@invgwellness AnMian is a powerful Acupuncture point known to help with poor sleep and dysregulated nervous system. The point is located just behind the ear on the backward corner of the bony bump. Massage here and pull down the neck. Do this before you go to bed or whenever you feel like you’re nervous system is on edge or you’re anxious

There’s an acupuncture point on the back of your ears called the Anmian, and applying gentle pressure on it for around a minute while lying on your back can promote relaxation too. Anmian literally means “peaceful sleep” in Chinese, and it’s a well-known method to treat insomnia.

Created by Olympic sprint coach Bud Winter, the military sleep method promises to help you fall asleep in under two minutes. That’s very ambitious. He developed it for US Navy pilots to help them fall asleep instantly even in loud, stressful environments. It has five stages. 1. Breathe deeply. 2. Relax your face. 3. Drop your shoulders and arms. 4. Work your way relaxing downwards. 5. Clear your mind.
Cognitive shuffling
@dr_arthur_ This is how to do ‘cognitive shuffling’, a sleep technique that will change your life! #medicine #doctor #health #sleeptips #sleep #sleephacks #howtogettosleep
If you can’t stop thinking about how hot you are, or if there’s just something else on your mind that’s stopping you from sleeping, you need to try cognitive shuffling. Basically, all you have to do is think about random words or images to distract your mind. It’s easy.
Cricket feet
@wanthoney Brother I’ve been cricketing since before you were born
It could even be as simple as rubbing your feet together to soothe yourself to sleep. The method is called cricket feet, which stimulates nerve endings and pressure points on the feet to help you feel relaxed and lower your cortisol levels (the stress hormone). I mean, it’s worth a try?
