Emmerdale fans were on the edge of their seats last night, as they watched Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) face a deadly showdown with John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).
On Wednesday, Mackenzie made a discovery about John that allowed him to work out that he was involved in Nate Robinson’s death. The plot twist happened just moments after John had agreed to drive Mack to the train station, ahead of his trip to London.
As they drove off, Mack felt tense, as he had to try and work out how he’d get out of this situation without putting himself in any danger.
Unfortunately for him though, Mack’s life was in jeopardy the moment he had glanced at that picture of John and Ben.
It became apparent a while later that John already knew that Mackenzie had been snooping through his scrapbook. It meant the local medic was five steps ahead of Mack and had full control of the situation.

As the penny dropped, Mackenzie bought himself a slither of time by shoving John and running off into the woods. He ran for his life but as expected, John had already thought about this happening and came prepared.
He shot an arrow from his bow and it went into a tree. Even if Mack ran faster than John, he had an advantage.
John shot an arrow and it went right through Mack’s chest. He then picked up a large boulder and threw it down at Mack, and that was the last we saw of him.
While it looked as though John had killed Mack in this moment, many Metro readers and watchers of the ITV soap are refusing to accept this is the end of the much loved character.

Taking to our Metro Soaps Facebook page, they had a lot to say.
Elizabeth Allen said: ‘I still don’t think he’s dead’.
Also struggling to believe we’ve definitely seen the last of Mack, Shirley Anne wrote: ‘Mack better not be dead.’
Reeling in shock, Lucinda Bundy put: ‘Omg poor Mackenzie’.
Over on social media platform X, the theory that Mackenzie isn’t actually dead continues to be mentioned.
Mary Lewis commented: ‘I am a ‘Mack is still alive’ believer….You can’t give both Aaron and Moira more heartache…’
So real.
Speculating how Mack’s fate could be revealed, this fan said: ‘I wonder if hero complex kicked in on John and what he did was try snap the arrow tip off and then take a unconscious Mack captive to be revealed later and be doing his medical care experiment on Mack, which Aaron will discover another day.’
Another point that everyone’s talking about right now is the fact Mack star Lawrence Robb has not featured in an Emmerdale social media video, discussing Mack’s death and therefore his final scenes.
This has happened previously with many cast members but because Lawrence hasn’t appeared in one, it has left plenty realising it adds fuel to the idea Mackenzie is still alive.

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, which can be viewed now on ITVX, John and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) get settled into their holiday cottage.
They are there to relax, but John has a lot on his mind given the fact he now needs to cover up another murder. The instalment opens with John putting out a fire in the woods but it isn’t confirmed what he’s actually burning.
Later on, Aaron finds John cleaning the van but spots blood near the driving seat. He lies to his husband, telling him that he hit a deer and felt so bad, he didn’t want to tell anyone.

With Aaron and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) already wondering why Mack hasn’t text them, John also creates a plan to stop them growing suspicious.
He texts Charity from Mackenzie’s phone, telling her that he wants to end their marriage.
Everything certainly points to the possibility Mack was killed yesterday, but will the clues spotted by fans so far, and the fact we haven’t seen his dead body, prove otherwise later down the line?
