Jason and Travis Kelce have never been shy about their love for beer. In fact, it’s become a pretty significant part of their brand as they’ve shotgunned beers during a live podcast recording and are even minority owners of the Grage Beer brand.
Given their reputation as rather prolific beer drinkers, the brothers were quite embarrassed to be caught in a mistake about three-quarters into a football game, where they thought they had been pounding beers the entire time.
Adding to the embarrassment, it was actually global pop sensation Taylor Swift who noticed their mistake.
Kelce Brothers Attend Cincinnati Opener
Before becoming NFL superstars, both Travis and Jason Kelce played their college football with the Cincinnati Bearcats, who actually opened their season with a neutral-site game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
Given that the game was in Travis’ home stadium a week before the start of the NFL season, it became a family affair as both brothers attended the game with Taylor Swift also making an appearance.
Throughout the game, the Kelce brothers attracted a lot of attention as the camera regularly found them and captured their reactions to the game.
Jason & Travis Were Drinking Non-Alcoholic Beer
Throughout the game, the Kelce brothers were pounding back what they thought were simply light beers. However, during a recent appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boyspodcast, Jason revealed that in the fourth quarter of the game, he learned that he and Travis had been drinking non-alcoholic beer the whole time.
“I find out that I had been drinking non-alcoholic beer the entire game,” Jason said with a laugh.
“It’s the most amount of shame that I had ever felt in myself,” Jason continued. “It’s just like, ‘What the [expletive] is wrong with you, Jason?'”
When asked who informed them that they had been drinking non-alcoholic beer, Jason revealed that it was none other than Taylor Swift.
“Taylor,” Jason said. “Because she said Travis had just been doing the same thing! And he was ashamed!”
Jason Explains the Mistake
Jason went on to explain that he and his brother had been drinking beers labeled as “zero,” thinking that the “zero” meant zero calories and not zero alcohol.
“We were thinking they were just some zero-calorie [beer,” Jason explained on the podcast. “I was like, ‘I just wasted three quarters.'”
“I was so ashamed,” he added.
While this might be an easy mistake to make, considering that “zero” does almost always refer to the calorie content when applied to soft drinks, it’s worth noting that it is not really possible to have zero-calorie beer, especially with alcohol in it.
Since the calories from beer do not come from added sugar, calories cannot be but by simply substituting an alternative sugar.
