Taylor Swift is heading back to cinemas with a brand-new project tied to her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The special film, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, will premiere on 3 October, the same day the album launches worldwide.
TAYLOR SWIFT RETURNS TO THE CINEMA
For three days only, from 3 to 5 October, fans will also have the chance to experience the film in theatres.
Tickets are already available through Fandango and major cinema chains in the US, and local distributors are expected to follow soon.
The project will feature the world premiere of the music video for Taylor Swift’s lead single, The Fate of Ophelia, according to CNN.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Audiences will also get behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot, new lyric videos. The videos will show Swift’s own personal reflections. The runtime is just under 90 minutes.
“This album was about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during the tour,” Taylor Swift said, according to E News.
“It comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in, so that effervescence has come through on this record.”
TAYLOR SWIFT ON TRAVIS’ PODCAST
Taylor Swift first teased the album back in August while appearing on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast.
She described the new record as 12 “infectious anthems,” a shift from The Tortured Poets Department, which she admitted was more of a lyrical “data dump.”
AN AMBITOUS RELEASE
Kelce, who has been openly supportive, named Opalite as his favourite track so far. “I keep listening to this album,” he said. “Every time it comes on, I catch myself dancing.”
With its mix of pop beats, bold visuals and fan-first storytelling, The Life of a Showgirl is shaping up to be one of Swift’s most ambitious releases.
