Teacher analyzes Simón Levy’s lie to give interviews

Étienne von Bertrab showed on video part of the hotel in Portugal from where Simón Levy claimed to be in Washington, in addition to pointing out him as a “compulsive liar.”

Mexico City, October 31 (However).- Etienne von Bertraba professor at University College London, denied this Friday the claims of Simon Levywho assured in different national media that he was in Washington D.C., United States, where he said he had been the victim of an attack, at the same time that the Mexican authorities confirmed through a document from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) that he was arrested in Portugal.

In an interview with journalists Daniela Barragán and Perla Velázquez for “Café y Noticias”, a program that is broadcast on the YouTube channel of However On AirÉtienne von Bertrab explained that he happened to be in Lisboa visiting a friend when he found out that Simon Levy recorded a video from the Myriad hotel, with “super, super luxury” accommodation, from where he claimed to be in Washington.

“Indeed, I came to verify that this is the place where Simón Levy pretended to be recording from Washington,” he said, in addition to showing elements of the hotel to corroborate that it was the same place, such as a bar, a piano and even a view of the Tagus River.

The teacher confirmed that the Myriad Hotel has luxury accommodation, after journalist Daniela Barragán pointed out that one of the questions regarding Simón Levy is the perception of his income. “It looks like this hotel in Dubai, one of those that faces the sea, in this case towards the river. It is an immense tower, it has an observation restaurant at the top that I have not visited. I am here drinking the most expensive beer I have ever paid for in my life,” he explained. Despite this, he could not confirm that the former official was staying at this place.

“I don’t know that he is or has been staying here, what is a fact is that from this place he recorded his number who knows how many lies, so it is clear that he is a character who lies compulsively. I don’t know if he could be called a mythomaniac, but at least in this case I have no doubt that he lies deeply,” he said.

In the conversation, journalist Daniela Barragán called Simón Levy “the perfect product of Twitter”, since his merits are unknown but he has a great ability to be in the main and largest media outlets, such as Formula Radio o MVS Newswhere he offered two of the interviews with Azucena Uresti and Luis Cárdenas to affirm that he was in Washington. “You can say whatever you want, without presenting evidence, and many people will believe you,” he explained.

In this list of ideas, von Bertrab pointed out Twitter (X) as a right-wing space that has intensified its agenda after the acquisition of Elon Musk, which benefits the dissemination of messages from people like Simón Levy, whom he pointed out as “an ideal character” for a sector of Mexicans who “has refused to understand what has happened in the country for seven years and who, above all, are dominated by hatred and anger.”

“Then they grab whatever, even if it’s a character that fortunately I don’t know, but it seems that he is very miserable, a compulsive liar, and that he also has many bills to pay with different people in his story,” he concluded.

“We don’t lie”: Sheinbaum

For her part, President Claudia Sheinbaum said in her morning conference today, Friday, that the case of Simón Levy is not a central issue for her Government, but rather arose as a result of a question asked by a reporter.

“We didn’t even want to mention this person, he is not central to the morning, what happened is that they asked us,” Sheinbaum explained.

The federal president insisted that her Government did not introduce the issue, but decided to show the corresponding documentation after the information presented was questioned.

“We don’t tell lies. Now, the information came from him; it was he who said that and that invention about what had happened to him was given flight. But we try to ensure that everything we do has sources.” said.
