“face plan”AppleTechnical obstacles in its plan to launch the foldable iPad, prompting the company to postpone the launch of the device until 2029, according to a report published by Bloomberg.
The company initially aimed to launch the device in 2028 at a cost of up to $3,000, but the company faces challenges related to the weight of the device, the advantages of foldable screens, and even the general advantages offered in it.
Apple is working closely with Samsung to develop the device’s screen in a way that hides the divider in the middle of the screen, which is the same approach the company is following with the foldable iPhone.
The foldable iPad design is similar to the design of MacBook computers, as it looks from the outside like a laptop with an aluminum frame in the absence of an external screen.
Apple intends to launch the device in two internal screen sizes, either 13 inches or 18 inches, with the development of the latter facing various challenges due to its size and the expected cost, which may reach 3 times the price of the current iPad Pro, especially with the use of OLED screens.
The weight of the device also represents one of the challenges facing the company, as the size of the test units reaches 1.5 kilograms, which is the weight of current MacBook Pro computers.
The report indicates that the test units of the device are similar to those provided by “HuaweiIn the “Mate Fold”, which has an internal screen size of 18 inches and is sold for approximately $3,400 in China.
It is noteworthy that iPad sales in general decreased significantly after 2021, so the company is trying to introduce a new innovation that will revive these sales.
