
A 15-year-old boy was struck by lighting at Central Park in New York City as a severe thunderstorm suddenly hit the area.
The teenager was standing next to a tree that was hit by the lighting bolt and the current zapped his metal chain just before 3.45pm on Thursday, the New York Post reported.
He was seriously injured and transported to New York Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The boy was ‘alert and conscious’ and sustained minor burns, sourced told the newspaper. He was listed in stable condition.

He was struck near Fifth Avenue and 101st Street as a thunderstorm rolled into the city and brought flashes of heavy rain.
