The Asics Gel Venture 10 is a shoe that provides thoughtless sure-footedness, withstands wear and tear way above its pay grade, and is simply comfortable to wear. The key to this is the slabby cushioning and midsole, plus a side and upper that seem to resist dirt and grass stains way more than expected.

My Experience Wearing Them
Like the Gel Venture 9 before it, I wear this shoe as my daily driver and dry day walker—I prefer the thicker midsole of the Asics Gel Excite Trail 2 for days with wet streets and grass. But there’s something very appealing about its solid cushioning and midsole combo for the meditative walker. Sure, there’s no Cole Haansquish, but instead, you get a really nice feeling of being connected with each step. It’s the kind of shoe you can easily forget you’re wearing.
Just how much value can you expect to extract from this shoe? According to Google Timeline, I walk between 25 and 45 miles per month, mostly on concrete. I’d guess 75% of that time is in this shoe. Nearing a year in, there’s some wear and tear, but not enough to start planning on buying another pair of shoes anytime soon. This shoe has seen sidewalks, roads, sand, Publix grocery aisles, and freshly mowed grass, and it just keeps going.
This sale offers the Gel Venture 10 in a dark grayish-black color that should, compared to my dark green, hold up even better to the daily dirt and grass that you’re likely to encounter in such a shoe. The green uppers on my pair appear nearly brand new a year on, with some mild greening on the sides of the light gray midsoles, which won’t be a problem with the jet black midsole of the sale shoe.
