A lot has happened in the last 45 years in Portugal, with unprecedented economic liberalization and social development, after decades of dictatorship, and structural problems highlighted by businesspeople and government officials that have become evident in recent years. Therefore, it is now important to understand where we are headed and which country we want for the future, between digital revolutions and the possibility of asserting ourselves in new markets.
Topics that will be debated at the Rangel Logistics Summit, an event with which the logistics company celebrates precisely 45 years of existence and launches the discussion about the present and the future. “We want the event to be a catalyst for ideas, promoting dialogue between different sectors of the Portuguese economy, with the ultimate objective of supporting companies to innovate, optimize their processes, reach new markets and consolidate themselves internationally”, explains Nuno Rangel.
large companies create times more wealth compared to medium-sized ones, in addition to being 3.7 times more productive, according to a study by Nova IMS
The objective is to “contribute to Portugal asserting itself as a hub competitive and strategic, capable of attracting investment, global partnerships and talent, strengthening the entire value chain and boosting the country’s economic development”, elaborates the CEO of Rangel Logistics Solutions. Topic he will join the role of logistics and technology in creating a more resilient health system, in the connection between culture and internationalization and in preparing Portugal for 2030 based on pillars such as digitalization and science. “The event will also feature special interventions dedicated to topics of artificial intelligence and geostrategic leadership”, he reveals.
One of the participants will also be António Portela, CEO of Bial, for whom “it is essential to strengthen the role of Portugal 2030 as an instrument for applying European funds to effectively stimulate and develop the Portuguese economy”. In other words, “for companies to grow sustainably, they need to strengthen their international competitiveness, and this is only possible with support for investment in innovation and the modernization of their activity”.
We need to think big, be ambitious and, clearly, continue to invest in proven sectors of activity, argues António Portela
He highlights as an obstacle to this process “the discrimination of companies based on their size, when it is the larger companies that generate the greatest impact on the growth of the economy”. Portugal, he points out, “needs to prioritize innovation and the transformative potential of investment in research and development and gains in scale and internationalization”. All in all, “we need to not be afraid to amplify and replicate good examples of growth with innovation”.
