The Conjuring actress Vera Farmiga has shared a creepy insight into filming the iconic horror franchise, leaving us more terrified than ever.
The 52-year-old has played paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren in a string of the supernatural flicks, alongside Patrick Wilson, who stars as her on-screen husband, Ed Warren.
Ahead of the final installment, which is released in cinemas on September 5, she opened up about the physical toll that filming takes, revealing ‘inexplicable’ bruises on her body.
In a new interview with E! News, she showed pictures of a bizarre, cross-shaped bruise, telling the outlet: ‘Yeah, I get battered.
‘It depends whether it’s upside down or not, whether they’re crosses or upside down crosses. I guess it depends on how I show you my leg.
‘That happens every time we do it. It’s just these inexplicable bruising shapes that occur on my body. It is what it is.’

However, the Departed actress said that the cast choose to remain quiet about the creepy happenings on set, as they don’t want to ‘sensationalize’ anything.
‘We don’t like talking about it,’ she continued. ‘We’re caught between a rock and a hard place – sensationalizing this and selling a movie.’
Vera and Patrick have become staples of the horror genre, having portrayed Lorraine and Ed since the first Conjuring movie, which hit our screens in 2013.
They reprised their roles in the 2016 and 2021 sequels, while also appearing in The Nun II and Annabelle Comes Home – Last Rites will be their sixth and final appearances in the franchise.

Teasing what to expect, she warned horror lovers to ‘brace’ themselves as the Warrens’ story is wrapped up once and for all.
‘You’re going to jump and scream, but you’re going to shed a lot of tears, too. I’m just saying.
‘You’re going to be raw. You’re going to shed some water weight in tears. Get those Kleenex. And the ones with the lotion on it.’

The Conjuring: Last Rites serves as a sequel to 2023’s The Devil Made Me Do It, and will transport viewers back to 1986, where a news report announces that the ‘devil has come to Pennsylvania’.
In the trailer, the Warrens arrived to help another family who found themselves plagued by a terrifying spirit in their home.
Unfortunately, there was a huge twist for the couple as it emerged that they had gone up against this particular demon once before.
While little else is known about the plot, the synopsis reads: ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events.’
The Conjuring: Last Rites premieres in cinemas on September 5.
