An apparent “confession message” that Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter sent just hours after the conservative activist’s death has been uncovered, just days after the FBI found a disturbing “planning note”.
22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested and taken into custody late on Thursday (11th September), 33 hours after the shooting. It was his own dad who encouraged him to hand himself in.
He was sending messages in a Discord group chat, and screenshots given to The Washington Post by two people familiar with the chat reveal what appears to be his “confession”.
“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this,” the message said.
The message was sent from Tyler’s account into the Discord group chat on Thursday night, around two hours before he was taken into custody. Charlie Kirk was killed on Wednesday, 10th September.
Discord has shared a copy of the message with authorities and told The Washington Post it is cooperating with the FBI and local police with information about the suspect’s online activities.

This comes after the FBI revealed they had found a note written by Tyler announcing plans to “take him out”. FBI director Kash Patel told Fox News the note said: “I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
“We have since learnt the note – even though it was destroyed – we have found forensic evidence of the note and we have confirmed what the note said because of our aggressive interview posture at the FBI,” the FBI director added.
The note was found at the home the suspect shares with his partner and was written before the shooting. He also sent a text message saying a similar thing.
“He had a text message exchange with another individual in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do it because of his hatred of what Charlie stood for.”
