Through the Ministry of Welfare, the Government of Mexico today began delivering the first support to people affected by the intense rains in Veracruz, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. In Hidalgo the same thing is expected to happen, but starting October 25.
Mexico City, October 22 (However).- The federal governmentheaded by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardoreported that there are already 78 deaths due to the devastating rains which fell from October 6 to 9 in five states of the country.
According to him micrositio enabled to consult official information on the effects of the extraordinary rainfall, and the progress of actions to support and care for affected families, 35 of the deaths were recorded in Veracruz; 22, in Hidalgo; 20, in Puebla; and one, in Queretaro.
At 8:30 p.m. on October 21, 2025, authorities reported that 23 people remain missing: 11 in Veracruz, eight in Hidalgo and four in Puebla.
On the other hand, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), presented this Wednesday how the work to respond to the emergency that is being experienced in Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz is going.
During Sheinbaum Pardo’s morning press conference, he explained that 93 towns remain incommunicado of the 288 that were counted at the beginning of the evaluation of damages caused by the rains and floods that hit five entities in the Republic.
“In total, the localities already communicated are 195 out of 288. This represents close to 70 percent of communities that already have passage,” declared Esteva Medina from the Treasury Room of the National Palace.

In addition, he shared that the restoration of electrical energy service reached 100 percent in Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí; while in Hidalgo there is an advance of 97.64 percent and in Veracruz, 99.93 percent.
The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation explained that the Welfare Secretariat, headed by Ariadna Montiel Reyes, has a total of 85,221 registered homes.
Finally, he highlighted that the authorities have delivered 273,448 food supplies and that 168,610 vaccines have been administered to the population that was severely affected by the rains, in order to prevent some diseases.
