ITV reality series The Fortune Hotel has come to a dramatic conclusion with couple Nella and Tope getting their hands on the winning briefcase.
The second season saw our final three – mother-and-daughter Briony and Martina, couple Nella and Tope, and life partners Fred and Min – go head-to-head in a showdown to secure the life-changing £200,000 jackpot.
The series, hosted by Stephen Mangan, follows 11 couples at a luxury resort in the Caribbean who are handed a series of briefcases – the contents of which range from a checkout card to that all-important prize money.
During the show, shifting alliances, fast-paced challenges, and some backstabbing thrown in for good measure all make or break whether you end the night with the coveted briefcase or a losing hand.
In the final episode, Nella and Tope dominated the challenges, which involved everything from counting rose petals on a bed to racing across the water on speedboats, cobbling together words as you go.
This meant that they had the power of the final swap, giving them the best chance at securing the jackpot.
By the end, Nella and Tope, had successfully tricked their way to the top and were crowned victors of this season.
Fred and Min secured £30k and Nella and Tope even made the kind gesture of offering Briony and Martina £5k to support Briony’s dreams to start a family one day through IVF.
The result left fans on the edge of their seats.
‘Nella and Tope giving Briony 5K for IVF show what lovely people they are,’ mitchellwebb wrote on X.
‘Really happy for Nella and Tope and what they are doing for Bryony is so sweet !,’ Queen Lauren added.
‘Well done Nella and Tope. They were constantly strong,’ Dawn echoed.
Speaking to Metro ahead of the finale, the couple said: ‘Our relationship was the newest in all the pairs. It was a bit crazy to put yourself in that position, in such a new relationship, but also very challenging to see if your relationship can go all the way,’ said Nella, who works as a senior financial accountant in London.
‘It made me trust in Tope’s opinion, his way of thinking, and I actually feel like it made our relationship so much stronger.’
Now the show is over for another year, ITV has yet to confirm whether it will return for a third season.
In a chat with us earlier this month, Stephen said that the decision on renewal was a while away.
Although he added: ‘Hopefully they’ll be bereft that it’s over. Every episode gets more exciting. Every episode, it’s harder to predict what’s going to happen.
‘There are surprises from the beginning, the first minute till the last. Hopefully, they’ll just be chomping at the bit for season three, is what you hope.’
