The fortune of Adam Augustus is a rugged swamp

Between figures that do not add up and assets that disappear from his statements, the assets of Adán Augusto López Hernández have undergone a metamorphosis that is difficult to explain. Since he assumed the governorship of Tabasco in 2019 until his arrival in the Senate in 2025, the Morenista has gone from reporting houses, vehicles, premises and jewelry to recognizing only two inherited lands, despite the million-dollar income and properties that he claimed to own in different years.

Mexico City, October 23 (However).– The patrimonial evolution that has been reported Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandez From 2019, when he assumed office as Governor of Tabasco, to 2025 as Senator of the Republic is plagued by inconsistencies and contradictions. In his most recent statement, for example, the leader of the Morenoist senators said he only had two inherited landsand not having any vehicle or real estate, even though the history of his assets has been different.

This week, the Coordinating Committee of the National Anti-Corruption System (SNA) asked an in-depth investigation into the discrepancies in the asset and tax declaration of the Senator morenista Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandez.

When Adán Augusto Hernández López became governor of Tabasco, he said he had a 564-square-meter house that he bought in cash in 2008 when he was a local deputy, for 8,300,000 pesos; two commercial premises, one for 650 thousand pesos and the other for one million 006 thousand pesos, which no longer appear in his last statement as Governor or in any other.

In his first year as Governor, in 2019, López Hernández earned 104,999 pesos per month and reported having 4,680 pesos from “other income.” In his second year as president of Tabasco, Adán Augusto reported the same monthly salary and said he received two million 700 thousand pesos for rent in 2019 and 211 thousand 330 pesos for other income.

In 2021, in a modification statement, Adán Augusto said that he had acquired, in cash, in 2020, a land of six thousand 956 square meters for one million pesos. He did not report again on his commercial premises or their sale. That same year he reported one million 519 thousand 110 pesos of his annual salary as Governor; as well as 273 thousand 828 pesos for financial activity and three million 103 thousand 448 pesos for leasing.

In his last statement as Governor, Adán Augusto reported having 938,158 pesos as “Net monthly remuneration (salaries, fees, compensation, bonuses and other benefits)”, as established in the field of that document; as well as 140,880 pesos for financial activity (investment funds) and two million 400 thousand pesos for Leasing.

At the beginning of his governorship, in 2019 and 2020, López Hernández also reported having jewelry, centenaries and other coins and metals as well as household items for a cost of six million 947 thousand 192 pesos. For 2021, he said “he had no information to report” in relation to his personal property and also with respect to his vehicles, but a year later, in 2021, he hid all the information regarding personal property and again reported the same three vehicles that he said he had at the beginning of his administration: a 2013 Toyota Highlander; a 2015 Jetta and a 2014 Suburban, all of them purchased for cash.

The statements in Segob and the Senate

As Secretary of the Interior he only reported having the Highlander and his Jetta. He did not report his own personal property. Although he continued to report his house and land. When he arrived at the Senate, in 2024, he said he only had his Toyota Highlander. He reported his same house and land, and denied having personal property.

In terms of income, in his initial statement as Secretary of the Interior, on October 18, 2021, Adán Augusto López Hernández reported a net monthly remuneration of 110,877 pesos; 34,228 pesos from an investment fund; and 300 thousand pesos for rent.

In another statement as Secretary of the Interior, regarding his income in 2022, he reported a net annual statement of one million 635 thousand 795 pesos for his position; 687 thousand 827 pesos from an investment fund; 101 thousand 619 pesos from other unspecified financial activity; and three million 600 thousand pesos for lease.

Added to this are other incomes that López Hernández denied having hidden in his asset declarations, which he received from private companies for 79 million pesos in 2023 and 2024, as reported by Televisa, but in doing so he presented contradictory figures.

Journalist Arturo Daen reported on September 26 how the Senator said that in 2023 he had income of 22 million 626 thousand 398 pesos, and in 2024 for 24 million 539 thousand 998 pesos. This adds up to 47 million 166 thousand pesos, a difference of 31 million compared to the 78 million that he accepted having received from the companies.

The Data Unit However reviewed his wealth statements as Senator and found that the figures contradict him. In declaration 2956 dated October 13, 2024, he only reported his income as a public official, already as a Senator, not from private companies, and there the figure was 131,874 net pesos. If it is considered a monthly figure, throughout the year it would reach one million 582 thousand pesos.

In his next statement, 29567 filed on May 17, 2025, he reported net income from his public position of 625,793 pesos. For the entire year it would be 7.5 million pesos. Here again only his income as a civil servant appears, again no amounts given to him by private companies were recorded.

Investment or bank account data appears blank. He reported that he had a debt of six million pesos, and the boxes on whether he has participation in companies, private benefits or trusts are empty.

Already in this last statement in the Senate of the Republic, Adán Augusto López Hernández reported not having his house or his land that he bought in cash in 2008 and 2020, respectively. On the contrary, he reported two pieces of land: one of 1,673 squares that he was inherited in September 2024 and which has a value of 2,761,738 pesos; and another of 433 square meters for 777,726 pesos that they also inherited in September 2024. López Hernández does not say where these properties are located nor does he report the sale of his previous house and land.
