The Game Awards 2025: How, Where, & Where to Watch

December has been a special time of year for gamers since the inception of Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards in 2014. With the end of E3, The Game Awards has been the most prolific video game event of the year, and millions of fans will tune in to see the award winners and the new video game announcements the show brings.

While we have a few confirmed announcements for the show, like new Resident Evil Requiem and Tomb Raider news, there’s a lot of secrecy still. Here’s everything you need to know about The Game Awards 2025 as we celebrate the year and also get a glimpse into the future.

When is The Game Awards 2025?

The Game Awards 2025 will be on Thursday, December 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST/4:30 PST.

The event will be broadcasted from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Typically, there is a pre-show during which several awards are given in rapid succession, with a few game announcements in between, before the full show kicks off.

Where to Watch The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards 2025 will be broadcasted live on the official The Game Awards YouTube and Twitch accounts.

If fans want to stay updated to the second, typically, the Twitch stream is ahead of the YouTube stream, but it doesn’t hurt to have both ready in case of technical issues.

What to Expect from The Game Awards 2025

The winners of all 29 categories will be revealed during the show, including the prestigious Game of the Year award. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive appears to be the frontrunner to take home the most awards, with its record-breaking 12 nominations. However, it wouldn’t be the first time an upset has occurred at the show, so anything is possible.

The winner of the entirely fan-voted Players’ Voice award will also be revealed. The nominees for that award are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Dispatch, Genshin Impact, Hollow Knight Silksong, and Wuthering Waves.

Rumors circulate virtually all year regarding announcements at The Game Awards, but there have been some confirmed titles that will be appearing at the show. The following are titles that will be getting a new trailer or announcement of some kind:

  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Tomb Raider
  • Phantom Blade Zero
  • SAROS
  • Exodus
  • LEGO Batman
  • A new title from Wildflower Interactive
  • The answer to the mysterious statue in the California desert, with the hint “regal.inspiring.thickness”

There are also several rumors of announcements related to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, Half-Life 3, Divinity Original Sin 3, and a new God of War game. Those rumors have very little or no credibility, so take them with a grain of salt.

Finally, for music performances, Evanescence will be appearing at the show to perform “Afterlife,” the theme song of the hit Netflix anime adaptation of Devil May Cry. The Game Awards Orchestra will also be performing its annual Game of the Year Medley, which will feature music from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hollow Knight Silksong, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hades 2.

This might be everything announced for The Game Awards 2025, but the show tends to throw in a few surprises, so fans can expect an exciting show.
