McDonald’s has launched a new World Heist menu, which features main items and sides from across the globe.
From October 22, fans will be able to get their hands on burgers from Canada and Australia, McNuggets and drinks from Japan, fries from Poland and so much more.
It’s the biggest shake-up to its menu in years, and its fair to say lovers of the Golden Arches are pretty excited.
The menu features eight new items, which you can read more about in our full rundown here:
- Maple BBQ & Bacon Double Quarter Pounder from Canada
- Pineapple McSpicy from Australia
- Garlic & Black Pepper McNuggets from Japan
- Sour Cream & Black Pepper McShaker Fries from Poland
- Mac & Cheese Triangles from The United Arab Emirates
- Choco Caramel Pie from Indonesia
- Chocolate or Caramel Pretzel McFlurry from Malaysia
- Sakura x Sprite from Japan
But if you love McDonald’s, you’ve no doubt got a favourite burger you tried that one time on holiday that you haven’t stopped dreaming about.

And with just eight items on the new menu, there’s a whole lot of options that have been left out.
We asked Metro readers what they think should have been on the menu that didn’t quite make the cut — and there were some pretty strong opinions.
Metro readers have their say
There’s one item that keeps being mentioned time and time again: the McGriddle.
For those not in the know, the McGriddle is actually a breakfast menu item, which features egg, bacon and cheese, but instead of an English muffin or burger bun, it’s sandwiched between two sweet maple-flavoured pancake like cakes. Yes, we might need to take a moment too.
There have also been limited edition varieties, including a chicken McGriddle, as well as a version where the cakes had blueberries in.
Sadly for Brits, you can’t get the McGriddle here — it’s currently available in the USA, Canada, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia.
For reader David Allen, this was an item that he felt was sorely lacking from the World Heist menu, and pleaded for its inclusion. ‘McGriddle, I beg of you,’ he wrote. A similar sentiment was shared on TikTok. ‘Need McGriddles on the menu,’ wrote one commenter.

Others were hankering after a Canadian favourite. Christine Poutine named ‘Poutine from Canada’ as her top choice for what’s missing on the new menu.
And over on TikTok, one user wrote: ‘Are we getting Poutine?… If they bring Canadian poutine I will be going there every week.’
The classic dish from North America is best described as loaded fries, topped with cheese curds and gravy. Originally hailing from Quebec, it’s as synonymous with Canada as maple syrup.
While readers are certainly passionate about their burgers, one commenter pointed out that as UK customers are seriously missing out when it comes to drinks — namely that, in the likes of Spain, you can get booze with your burgers. ‘Let us pick a lager as the drink in the meal,’ wrote Karen Kooky.

Other burgers that also got a special mention were Japan’s Teriyaki McBurger and the Maharaja Mac – India’s answer to the Big Mac made with chicken or corn and cheese patties, instead of beef.
Another crowd pleasure that didn’t make the cut was the fast food giant’s Japanese gohan burgers. ‘So disappointed that they didn’t choose to bring the rice buns from Japan that are gluten free,’ wrote @proofedbyemily on TikTok.
The burger bun replacement consists of densely packed rice that is fried in a variety of sauces like teriyaki and soy sauce. While there are claims these are gluten free, it’s worth checking the ingredients, as soy sauce typically contains gluten.
But ultimately, us Brits seem to be most devastated by the fact that a beloved UK menu item still isn’t making a comeback.
Despite it disappearing X years ago, the Chicken Legend is still at the forefront of McDonald’s fans’ minds.
‘Just want the chicken legend back,’ wrote Ria on TikTok. While Kizzy added: ‘I just want the chicken legend.’
The iconic burger was discontinued back in October 2022, and replaced with the McCrispy.
The ultimate adult Happy Meal from Spain
In October 2024, McDonald’s Spain unveiled a Friends adult Happy Meal to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic 90s sitcom. Could we BE anymore jealous?!
Each box was decorated with a Friends-themed design, and yes, the toys were based on all your favourite characters. Maccies fans were able to collect little figurines of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Ross.
As for the food, the adult Happy Meals came with a choice of burger, as well as fries and a drink. And because it’s McDonald’s Spain, there were a few burger options that we don’t have here, such as the CBO (a chicken burger with crispy bacon, crispy onions, cheese, lettuce and a creamy pepper CBO sauce), and the McRoyal Delux (the only beef burger on the menu with tomato).
The box meal also came with a limited-edition sauce. ‘Monica’s Marinara’ was created especially for the collab, and while there’s was no description for the ‘special sauce’, marinara is typically made with tomato, garlic, herbs and onions.
McDonald’s España shared the news on social media, creating a fun advert for the collab which sees a McDonald’s restaurant transformed into Central Perk, the coffee shop from the show. There’s the iconic orange sofa, and the stars of the ad recreate some of the most famous moments from the show.
