The Mexican Grand Prix is ​​filled with butterflies

Today, prior to the start of the Mexican Grand Prix race, the GNP Stadium will be filled with monarch butterflies, as part of the “We are part of the flight” project. These are 30 thousand seed paper butterflies that are given to each of the attendees in this area of ​​the event.

The paper with which they are made has flaxseed, cloud flower and chia seeds, so that they can grow in homes. The goal is that, once the fans return home, they will plant them and obtain a new plant.

“We are part of the flight” adds to the event’s objectives of being sustainable, through alliances that promote the neutralization of emissionsthe conservation of the environment and natural spaces. The Mexican Grand Prix seeks to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The chosen image, of a monarch butterfly, seeks to symbolize the balance of ecosystems through pollination and represents the country’s biodiversity.

These paper butterflies feature a QR code that takes attendees to an augmented reality filter, which allows you to see hundreds of these animals flying through the Hermanos Rodríguez Autódromo.

In addition to this initiative, the Mexico GP promotes the elimination of waste through hydration points, where attendees can refill their thermoses, bottles and glasses commemorating the event with water, in order to reduce the amount of waste generated by plastic bottles.

This initiative has been well received by attendees who point out that it allows them to keep a souvenir of the event thanks to the commemorative glass, It allows them to reduce their expenses by having free water and it seems like a simple way to join in and support the environment.

The water sold is packaged in Tetra Pak containers, as they are easier to recycle.
