A burst sewer pipe leads to a major discovery for Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) in EastEnders soon.
It’s almost time for Halloween which means the Slater clan spend the start of next week preparing for the event at the Queen Vic.
Alongside this, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) is continuing to struggle with the trouble Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) has been causing ever since her return.
The latest revelation from her daughter plays on Kat’s mind, but Alfie warns her to stay out of it.
Meanwhile, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) discusses Zoe’s son with Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean). Seeing how much finding the boy – who actually isn’t Dennis Rickman’s son – means to Sharon, Ian decides to send her some money to fund another PI search.
As the pub quiz night gets underway, Kat overhears Vicki talking to Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) and decides to make a decision. Seconds later, commotion is caused as Kat decides to blurt out Zoe’s secret.
While the residents reel from the bombshell, Kat realises Zoe’s actions are impacting her business and her family, and gives her daughter an ultimatum.
Zoe chooses to leave the family home but then finds a broken photo of her and Kat. She accuses her mum of smashing it but Kat denies it, leaving Zoe to wonder who was responsible.
When Halloween arrives, things get off to a bad start because Alfie has found a burst sewer pipe in the barrel store. He cleans it up, but intriguingly finds a VHS tape from the 1980s.
The night falls and Ross arrives with a video player, but Kat worries about playing it in case it upsets Zoe.
Meanwhile, a paranoid Zoe tries to find out who broke her photo. After clashing with Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), she heads back to the pub and finds the VHS playing.
After throwing everyone out of the pub, Zoe confronts Kat. She denies playing the tape, and Kat is left deeply worried about her daughter.
Zoe fails to realise how concerned people are about her, and instead convinces herself that someone is out to get her. As the evening draws to a close, Kat, Zoe and Tommy (Sonny Kendall) sit down to watch the video from 1988.
But what will it reveal?
