Mexico City.- For those taxi drivers of the Mexico City, The unit replacement program implemented by the company is useless. Local Mobility Secretariat (Semovi), headed by Héctor García Nieto, because they do not have to pay the credits offered.
Fernando owns a taxi, and his current unit is already about to exceed the 10-year age limit established by capital legislation, which is why he applied as a candidate for the program. However, to pay for the vehicle he is interested in as a substitute, he would have to pay six thousand pesos per month despite the credit he would receive, while he has to allocate more than seven thousand pesos per month for ordinary expenses, and only the rest of what is generated serves as utility.
“To survive I need more or less the same thing, a minimum wage, sometimes it comes out or sometimes it doesn’t because this is how it is, and also right now with the competition of the platforms, it goes down a lot,” declared the interviewee for Enough Diary, who went in recent days to the Taxi Fair on one side of the Puebla Metro, carried out by Semovi to encourage the renewal of units that have already reached their useful life.
It should be noted that if Fernando opted for an electric car, he would receive as part of the agency’s program led by Garcia Nieto, a loan of 200 thousand pesos that would only be enough to pay around half of the cost, since as Diario Basta observed in a tour of the fair, the price of this type of vehicle is around 370 thousand pesos.

This medium also spoke with staff from Mercader, one of the financial companies subscribed to the program, who detailed that only around a dozen taxi drivers have been granted the credit, and a characteristic that several of these beneficiaries have is that they have other income in addition to that generated by their individual public transportation unit.
