You can’t tell me the Shaman wasn’t giving off major creepy vibes from the very beginning. The way she stared gave me chills. If I were in that dorm, I’d have been sleeping with one eye open. Sure, she didn’t get everything right, but one thing’s for certain: Her prediction about the ending of Squid Game season three turned out to be shockingly accurate.
In one of the early scenes, Seon-nyeo, the Shaman-like player, delivers a chilling prediction. Looking around at the others, she declares, “Not a single one of you will leave here alive.” At the time, it sounded dramatic, and more than a bit unsettling, but as the season went on, it seemed she might have actually seen the future.
Fast forward to the finale, and her words hit like a punch to the gut. None of the original competitors survives the brutal, soul-crushing game, not even Gi-hun, our hero. In a heartbreaking final act, he sacrifices himself, choosing to protect Jun-hee’s unborn child rather than fight to the bitter end. His decision is one of the show’s most powerful moments.

Her eerie foresight didn’t stop there. In another scene where Gi-hun is handcuffed, she tells him that he will watch all of his friends die and then him. It was a grim warning that also came true. Gi-hun witnessed the heartbreaking loss of his closest allies, including his best friend, before his own sacrifice in the finale.
So, who ends up winning Squid Game?
It’s Jun-hee’s baby, born earlier in the season, who is left as the symbolic victor.
Interestingly, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk originally had a very different ending in mind. But during the writing process, he changed course, deciding this bittersweet twist carried more emotional weight and suited the story better.
Speaking to Tudum, Hwang explained, “Ultimately, the baby represents the future generation.” He added, “I believe we also have the responsibility and duty to try everything that we can in our power to leave a better world for the future generation.”
